This section of the
Community Health Resource Center of the Department of Family Medicine at
Midwestern University provides a variety of links to demographic and
health data sets, to health promotion/community health improvement
information and related resources on the Internet.
These resources may
be useful in several ways. Providers may wish to know more about the
communities in which they provide medical and health services. The US
Department of Health and Human Services has developed a 10-year plan with
health objectives for the Nation. The Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention hosts the
Healthy People 2010 web site. This web site presents and discusses many
health focus areas and objectives. Providers can look at national targets,
check their State's progress towards achieving these goals and may even
benchmark their practice outcomes to these goals and objectives. Many
medical and other health professional students complete community health
projects. Often they require input from preceptors. These resources may be
of interest to those preceptors desiring to help shape and focus these
projects.
The Agency
for HealthCare Research and Quality provides links to the US
Preventive Services Task Force reports and other information on clinical
and community-based preventive services and evidence based medicine
resources. The US Department of Health and Human Services
Office of Minority Health provides access to a number of data,
statistical resources and reports for many racial and ethnic minority
groups.
